About Boxford Farms
Established in 1938, Boxford Farms grows a variety of top, stone and soft fruit in the picturesque rolling landscape of the Dedham Vale and Stour Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). In addition to growing strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, asparagus and rhubarb, the farm has a long and unique history of apple cultivation, currently growing over 20 varieties!
A family-run business
We’re proud to be a third generation family business. Our “Boxford Group” of companies includes Boxford Farms, Peake Fruit – where we store, pack and market our own fruit, and the beautiful Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa. Founder Devora Peake (F.R.Ag.S MBE) was the driving force behind the business for nearly sixty years and together with her husband Bill, always believed in the benefits and quality of their products. They were also pioneering entrepreneurs who diversified to succeed. They created Copella apple juice in 1969 by using their small and uneven shaped fruit. This business as it grew was later sold to Tropicana UK in 1997. Bill and Devora also created two championship golf courses and a clubhouse in the 1970s, which has since been developed by the next generation into the Stoke by Nayland Resort.
Second generation siblings, Jonathan, Susanna, Tamara and Carmella, and third generation, Robert are actively involved in the running of all the businesses today which employ up to a total of 450 staff. The family, together with the Farms’ Director Robert England and his team, still share the beliefs of their founders by actively growing and promoting the very best quality British produce.
